Position Overview:

We have an opening for Kitchen Lead who will be responsible for the overall meal planning, preparation, and food service for Camp Horizon in this Bragg Creek / Kananaskis location. Come join an exceptional team of people while living in the beautiful Kananaskis country!

Responsibilities:

• Manage, hire, and train kitchen staff
• Seek ways to improve kitchen processes
• Ensure client satisfaction with menu and overall service
• Create and manage a schedule for kitchen staff
• Manage inventory for food and beverage items to ensure the kitchen is adequately stocked
• Place food orders when necessary
• Build and implements menus that take into account dietary needs of our clients
• Set standards for kitchen cleanliness as per Alberta Health Services
• Manage relationships with vendors and oversee vendor contracts
• Oversee kitchen equipment and schedule maintenance scheduling
• Suggest/propose improvements for revenue generating activities and work with the Program Manager for execution of approved activities

Qualifications:

•  Minimum 3 years’ food service experience, Journeyman designation preferred but combination of experience and training will also be considered;
•  Must be willing to be flexible with shifts
•  Knowledge of allergies and special diets is an asset
•  Gluten free training in preferred
•  WHMIS, Food Safe, and First Aid training are considered assets
•  Experience working in a Camp environment is an asset

•   Previous administrative experience
•   Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills;
•   Strong written and verbal communication skills
•   Ability to manage and prioritize tasks
•   Excellent, clear communication (oral and written),
•   Superior organization and time management skills
•   Highly self-motivated
•   Ability to be proactive and action oriented with an attention to detail
•   Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Word, e-mail and internet navigation
•   Willingness to take initiative and go the extra mile
•   Proven and demonstrated experience in creating and scaling innovative service projects
•   Knowledge of working with individuals with disabilities and medical conditions is an asset
•   Previous experience working in a not-for-profit is an asset
•   Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality
•   Ability to meet defined deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

•   Salary will be based on experience
•   Opportunity to live on-site in a private cabin

•   Must be flexible with a varying schedule based on camp bookings
•   During off season when camps are not as steady, assistance in other areas of camp may be needed
•   The Chef role a full time position (40 hours/week) and reports to our Programs Manager
