About Us

The Swamp Donkey Musical Theatre Society was established in 2018 by a group of individuals from Bragg Creek and surrounding area who, simply put, really love musical theatre!

That Name: Why “Swamp Donkey”?!

We chose the name Swamp Donkey for our society because we wanted something unique to Bragg Creek. Our community is set amidst a spectacular natural setting in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. “Swamp donkey” is a slang word for a moose, one of the many animals with whom we share our gorgeous home. As such, we thought it was fitting to name our society after this majestic creature. The somewhat comical name also shows that we don’t take ourselves too seriously. While we strive to provide quality productions and educational opportunities, we also focus on fun!
